The Fragile by Nine Inch Nails is a 1999 double album that's been described as a concept album and an industrial rock album about personal issues. Trent Reznor, the album's producer, composer, and lyricist, has called it a sequel to The Downward Spiral (1994), the band's previous album, which told the story of a man's destruction. The Fragile instead explores Reznor's own struggles with depression, drug abuse, and angst, and some say the album's songs are about disillusionment. Reznor's vocals on The Fragile are also softer and more melodic than on his previous work.
