Released in 1985, Low-Life is widely considered the moment New Order fully stepped out from the shadow of Joy Division and mastered their own identity. It is an album of perfect contrasts: the acoustic, melancholic beauty of "Elegia" sits alongside the aggressive, floor-filling energy of "The Perfect Kiss." By integrating rock instrumentation with cutting-edge (for the time) digital sequencers, the band created a "high-fidelity" blueprint for the next decade of alternative dance music.
This 180-gram vinyl reissue is part of the "Factory-era" series, featuring audio newly remastered by Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road Studios. It is a "faithful and meticulous" replica of the original 1985 release, down to the iconic Peter Saville-designed sleeve featuring a translucent-wrapped portrait of drummer Stephen Morris. For the "brave and the bold" collector, this pressing restores the "dynamic punch" and "shimmering textures" of one of the 80s' most essential records.
