My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult - Death Threat [CD]

Since forming in Chicago in 1987, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult have treated industrial music as an excuse to throw a sleazy, glittering, horror-movie dance party. Death Threat, released in 2009 as the follow-up to The Filthiest Show in Town, keeps the party going with Groovie Mann and Buzz McCoy firmly in charge.

Recorded at Starlust Studios in Los Angeles and produced by McCoy, the album mixes the band's signature industrial disco with glam swagger and B-movie camp. "Witchpunkrockstar" opens the record at more than six minutes, "Invasion (Of The Ultra Modelz)" and the title track follow, and song titles like "Spotlite Hooker" and "Foxxxy Rockit" tell you the tongue-in-cheek sleaze that has always been their calling card is fully intact. "Psychik Yoga" closes things out at just over seven minutes.

Fifteen years after "After The Flesh" landed on the soundtrack to The Crow, Death Threat showed the Kult were still perfectly comfortable in the shadows, and the band took it out on the road that spring.
