Mike D - Thank You [Clear]

It took until 2026, but a Beastie Boy has finally made a solo album. Thank You, released in August on Capitol, is Michael "Mike D" Diamond's first full-length under his own name, and the first album from any member of the group since Hot Sauce Committee Part Two in 2011.

It is very much a family affair. Diamond made the record with his sons Skyler and Davis, who co-produce and play throughout, and the result is a glitchy, hook-heavy blend of old-school hip-hop, breakbeats, indie rock and post-punk. "Switch Up" kicks the door in with gleefully chaotic production, "What We Got" features Kesha on backing vocals and nods to the Hello Nasty era, and "Crypto" buries a pointed swipe at modern capitalism under heavily distorted vocals. The whole thing was mixed by Derek "MixedByAli" Ali.

Underneath the fun is a record about gratitude. "Back to Start" looks back on the Beastie Boys years with real affection, and the closing title track is a quietly moving thank-you to the band and the friends who made that life possible.

This edition is pressed on clear vinyl, with all twelve tracks on a single LP.
