A genuine cult artifact finally gets its due. A.M. was born on a snowy winter night on Manhattan's Lower East Side, when Swervedriver's Adam Franklin and Interpol's Sam Fogarino were introduced by mutual friend and Big Takeover editor Jack Rabid, and immediately recognized each other as kindred spirits. With Jimmy LaValle of The Album Leaf brought in on keyboards, the trio forged something entirely their own — a hypnotic blend of shoegaze atmosphere, Krautrock drive, and hazy psychedelia that sounds like no other record either musician has been a part of.
Originally self-released in 2008, A.M. sold out quickly and spent years as a sought-after collectible among fans of both Swervedriver and Interpol. As Franklin has said, some of his favorite songs he has ever been involved in writing are on this album — and it shows. Layered guitars, cavernous drums, and walls of reverb create music that, in Franklin's own words, sounds like dreams — odd, disassociated, and utterly transportable.
This long-awaited reissue has been fully remastered and pressed on bone-white vinyl, featuring all-new artwork and photography by legendary rock photographer Pat Graham. An essential record, finally given the release it always deserved.
