M83 - I Wrote You a Letter [Indie Exclusive]

Twenty-five years after his debut, Anthony Gonzalez marks the quarter century with M83's tenth studio album. I Wrote You a Letter arrives in late September, and the framing is deliberate: a project that dragged indie-electronic into the mainstream without ever losing the critics, looking back across the whole run.

It was recorded between Los Angeles and Paris with Benoit de Villeneuve, and follows 2023's Fantasy. The M83 signature is intact, which is to say enormous synthetic architecture that somehow stays intimate, built for headphones and stadiums with equal conviction. Gonzalez has spent a career making electronic music that behaves emotionally like guitar music, and "Midnight City" alone has passed 1.5 billion streams on the strength of that instinct.

The artwork comes from the Australian photographer Bill Henson, whose crepuscular, half-lit portraiture is about as close to a visual translation of the M83 palette as anyone has managed.

This indie exclusive pressing is on 140-gram colored vinyl in a limited edition, out September 25, 2026. Limited to independent retail and gone once the run clears.
