Christopher Nolan shot The Odyssey entirely on IMAX film cameras, and Ludwig Göransson wrote a score to match that scale. Released in July 2026, it is the fourth collaboration between the director and the composer, and by some distance the biggest canvas either has worked on.
Göransson builds the score around ancient instrumentation and modern low end, the same trick that made Black Panther and Oppenheimer work but pushed much further here. "Zeus's Law" opens with a hammering, ritual pulse. "Ithaca" and "Penelope" hold the human center of the film in long, aching string lines. "Cyclops" and "Hades" go somewhere genuinely frightening, the latter running past ten minutes without ever loosening its grip. Samantha Morton lends vocals to "Circe," and the album closes with "When I'm Home," a full song built with James Blake and Travis Scott.
Across twenty three cues and six sides, it works as a listening experience rather than a set of film cues, which is rarer than it should be for a modern blockbuster score.
This 3LP edition presents the complete soundtrack on black vinyl with a 24 page booklet featuring liner notes written by Christopher Nolan. An essential pressing for score collectors.
