With is a rare and luminous collection that gathers the finest of Little Annie’s collaborations with some of the most visionary artists in the avant-garde and experimental music world. Released on LP, the album serves as both a celebration of connection and a portrait of artistic intimacy, tracing Annie’s singular path through the landscapes of underground music, torch-song melancholy, and cabaret noir.
Across these tracks, she is joined by an extraordinary cast: Marc Almond of Soft Cell, COIL, Swans, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Baby Dee, Kid Congo Powers (of The Gun Club, The Cramps, and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds), Paul Wallfisch (The Ministry of Wolves, ex-Swans), and Larsen. Each collaboration reveals a different shade of Annie’s emotional and artistic range, from sorrowful piano ballads and smoky lounge laments to eerie electronics and spectral, jazz-inflected improvisations. The result is an album that feels like it was born in the dim corners of a secret cabaret — full of longing, mystery, and human warmth.
Annie Bandez, known equally as Little Annie or Annie Anxiety, has long stood as a singular figure in the worlds of post-punk and experimental music. Since the late 1970s, she has blurred the boundaries between music, performance art, painting, and poetry, forging a deeply personal creative identity rooted in resilience and reinvention. Her voice — husky, intimate, and unmistakably human — is the thread that ties this collection together. Even when surrounded by collaborators known for pushing sound to its extremes, Annie remains the still point at the center: a storyteller singing of heartbreak, survival, and the beauty found in ruin.
Mastered by Martin Siewert (renowned for his work with Hermann Nitsch, Thurston Moore, Lydia Lunch, Mika Vainio, and Keiji Haino), the album retains every delicate nuance and texture, from whispered confessions to the tremor of decaying reverb. Complementing the music are Annie’s own cover paintings, visual reflections of the same emotional rawness and painterly intuition that infuse her voice.
With is less a compilation than a collaborative memoir — a gathering of spirits and kindred minds bound by art’s strange, redemptive pull. It’s a record for twilight hours, where broken hearts meet divine revelation, and where every note feels like a confession whispered over a glass of something strong.
For listeners of: Marc Almond, Baby Dee, Swans, Nick Cave, COIL, Lydia Lunch, and Diamanda Galás.
