Sound of the Void is the second full-length from Kontravoid on Toronto's Artoffact Records, following 2024's Detachment. Cameron Findlay has been refining his dark, synth-driven pop since his self-titled LP in 2012, and this album pushes that work somewhere murkier and more menacing.
The record blends haunting coldwave with harsh EBM basslines and pounding electro rhythms across ten tracks. It opens on the title track and moves through "Without," "Mortal" and "Subject" before closing on "Phantom," keeping the pressure on for dark rooms and late hours.
Where Detachment worked EBM, electro and goth into something irresistibly catchy, this one solidifies Kontravoid's place in modern underground electronic music. It is an easy pick for anyone who follows Artoffact's roster or the current coldwave scene.
