King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Expand Your Mind: Songs In 3D (Deluxe Edition) [RSD Black Friday 2026]

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have always treated the record itself as part of the fun, and this one may be their strangest object yet. Expand Your Mind: Songs In 3D is what the label believes to be the first 3D zoetrope record ever made: a disc whose artwork animates as it spins on the turntable, designed to be watched through the 3D glasses that come in the package.

The music holds up its end. The album collects seven live recordings from the band's 2025 performances in Bulgaria, catching a group whose shows have become as central to their reputation as their famously fast-growing studio catalog. On stage the songs stretch, mutate, and run into one another, with the band switching between heavy riffing, motorik grooves, and loose psychedelic jams from one song to the next. No two King Gizzard shows are alike, which is exactly why the live releases matter.

It arrives as part of the band's officially sanctioned Bootlegger Series, the open invitation that lets independent labels press their live recordings. Having Fun Records has used that freedom to push the format somewhere new, bringing in zoetrope designer Drew Tetz to build the animation into the record itself.

This deluxe edition is a Record Store Day Black Friday 2026 release, limited to 5,000 copies and packaged with 3D glasses. Put it on, dim the lights a little, and watch it move.
