Justin Bieber - Under the Mistletoe

Released in 2011, Under the Mistletoe caught Justin Bieber at the peak of his first wave of fame, and it went straight to number one on the Billboard 200, a rare feat for a holiday record. It is a modern pop Christmas album in the truest sense: polished, R&B-leaning and stacked with famous friends.

The originals carry the album. "Mistletoe," the lead single, is a breezy, acoustic-tinged slow jam that has become a seasonal playlist staple, and "Only Thing I Ever Get for Christmas" and "Christmas Eve" sit comfortably alongside it. The guest list reads like a who's who of the era: Usher joins for "The Christmas Song," Boyz II Men bring their harmonies to "Fa La La," Busta Rhymes shows up on a reworked "Drummer Boy," and Mariah Carey herself duets on a refreshed "All I Want for Christmas Is You (SuperFestive!)."

For fans who grew up with it, this is the soundtrack to a very specific stretch of early-2010s Decembers, and it still plays as one of the more fun pop holiday records of its decade.

This Island Records LP collects the eleven-song album on black vinyl.
