Grails - Take Refuge In Clean Living

Released in 2008 between Burning Off Impurities and Doomsdayer's Holiday, Take Refuge In Clean Living is the shortest and most direct of Grails' Temporary Residence albums, and a fan favorite for exactly that reason.

Just five tracks, every one of them essential. "Stoned At The Taj Again" opens with a hazy, Eastern-tinged drift, and "PTSD" rides a tough, circling riff. A cover of The Ventures' "11th Hour" shows off their sense of humor, while the closing pair "Take Refuge" and "Clean Living" build into long, meditative swells. Emil Amos, Alex John Hall, William Slater, Zak Riles and drummer Ben Nugent weave pedal steel, harpsichord, vibraphone and organ through the album, giving it a warm, cinematic richness.

It drew strong reviews on release and remains a perfect snapshot of the band at a creative peak.

This reissue edition is remastered and pressed on black vinyl.
