Eight years after her self-titled debut, Daughter singer Elena Tonra returns as Ex:Re with Save As. There is no grand concept this time, just Tonra doing what she does best: chronicling the gnawing minutiae of consciousness, the overthinking that consumes us, and the places we go to escape it.
Produced again by Fabian Prynn, with Josephine Stephenson on cello, Hinako Omori on synths, Ben Reed on bass, and Jethro Fox on guitar, the record keeps the spark of its demos. Lead single "Radio Station" starts with strummed acoustic guitar and drifts into an endless California road trip, "Sleep" began life in a Paris hotel room, and "Am I Even Real?" is a striking duet with Prynn.
It is intimate, restless, and quietly gorgeous, a perfect mingling of first thoughts and long-held ideas.
This indie store exclusive is pressed on eco grey vinyl.
