A burnished masterpiece of psychedelic pop and newfound independence.

Following the abrupt end of the Lush reunion in 2016, co-founder Emma Anderson found herself at a crossroads. Left with a collection of melodies originally intended for the band, she embarked on a protracted, often interrupted journey to find her own voice. The result is Pearlies, a debut solo album that blossoms into a stunning hybrid of effervescent electronic pop, psych-folk textures, and the signature "dreamy" songwriting that made her a cornerstone of British music.

Produced by James Chapman (Maps), the album strikes a perfect balance between Anderson's idiosyncratic guitar style and Chapman’s modern electronic production. The record features a prestigious list of collaborators, including Richard Oakes (Suede), who provides extra guitar magic on four tracks, and string arrangements by Audrey Riley. With mastering by the renowned Heba Kadry, Pearlies carries a "burnished beauty" that bridges the gap between the hazy nostalgia of the 90s and contemporary psych-pop reminiscent of Goldfrapp or Melody's Echo Chamber.

From the "unexpectedly funky" lead single "Bend The Round" to the Stereolab-esque groove of the closer "Clusters," the album serves as a triumphant answer to its own opening question: "See if I make it on my own." It is a record about confronting fears, embracing independence, and moving forward—a long-awaited solo journey from one of the UK's most underrated songwriters.
