To mark a decade since its first official release in 2015, Cold Spring presents a special 10th-anniversary vinyl reissue of Backwards. This landmark album, which began its journey in 1992, represents the "fearless and forward-thinking" bridge between the kaleidoscopic chaos of 1990's Love's Secret Domain and the nocturnal, "moon musick" of the Musick to Play in the Dark series. Finished in 1996 at Trent Reznor’s Nothing Studios in New Orleans, these tracks capture the "soulful and realized" fruition of Jhonn Balance’s vocal evolution, reaching heights of passion and spectral beauty that remain unparalleled in the post-industrial canon.

Preserved and mixed by longtime collaborator Danny Hyde, this edition presents the tracks in their "highest quality and original" form, differing substantially from the later reworked The New Backwards (2008). It features the definitive, intended versions of much-loved classics like "A Cold Cell" and "Fire of the Mind." This 180g heavyweight double vinyl set is housed in a premium gatefold matte-laminate sleeve with silver hot-foil detail, serving as a "monolithic and visceral" document of one of the most significant creative journeys in experimental music history.
