In 2014 Charli XCX was suddenly everywhere. She had co-written "Fancy" and "I Love It," and "Boom Clap" from The Fault in Our Stars soundtrack was climbing into the top ten in both the US and UK. Rather than play it safe on the follow-up, she made Sucker, a loud, gleeful record that swapped the haze of her debut for guitars, handclaps and attitude.

The album pulls from pop-punk, power pop and new wave, and it is built for shouting along. "Break the Rules" is a teenage riot in four minutes, the title track opens with a sneer, and "London Queen" and "Famous" bounce with Ramones-sized energy. Rivers Cuomo co-wrote "Hanging Around," and a deep bench of collaborators including Rostam, Greg Kurstin and Ariel Rechtshaid helped give the record its bright, punchy sound.

Sucker reached the top 30 of the Billboard 200 and the UK top 20, and it remains the most rock-leaning chapter in her catalog, the sound of a pop star having the time of her life on her own terms.

This reissue presents the album on a single LP of 140-gram black vinyl.
