Originally released in 1998, Music For Cats is the debut solo album from the legendary cEvin Key. Recorded in the mid-90s during a period of transition following the initial dissolution of Skinny Puppy, the album is a high-water mark for the "Subconscious Music Orchestra." Far from a solitary effort, it is a brilliant, collaborative experiment featuring a who’s-who of industrial and avant-garde royalty, including the late Dwayne Goettel, Genesis P-Orridge (Psychic TV), Philth (Phil Western), and Mark Spybey (Dead Voices on Air).
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Artoffact Records has brought this essential piece of electronic history back to vinyl in a stunning, limited edition Splatter Vinyl pressing. Overseen personally by cEvin Key, this edition features upgraded sound and restored archival artwork. From the symphonic opening of the title track to the glitchy, 10-minute epic "Meteorite" and the haunting spoken-word contributions of P-Orridge, Music For Cats remains an "effortlessly dark, cryptic, and often quite pretty" journey through the mind of an industrial pioneer.
