Rock Creek is the second and final album from Washington, D.C. trio the Capitol City Dusters, released in 2002. The band formed in 1996 around guitarist and singer Alec Bourgeois, formerly of Severin, and drummer Ben Azzara, who came over from the Delta 72, with Jesse Quitslund on bass by the time of this record.
Recorded at Phase Studios with Tony Eichler, the album sits in the D.C. post-hardcore tradition while leaning harder on melody than most of its neighbors. Wiry guitar lines drive songs like "Superimposed" and "Signal Sound," and the record takes its name from the park that runs through the middle of the city, saluted directly on "Rock Creek Park." "They Saved Reagan's Brain" shows the band's sense of humor was intact too.
The Dusters split in 2003, leaving this as their last and most fully realized statement. Ten songs on LP from Dischord Records.
