One of the most important debut albums in the history of hip-hop, and one of only fifteen records ever to receive the coveted Five Mic rating from The Source upon its initial release. Released on December 4, 1990 on Elektra Records, One For All announced Grand Puba, Sadat X, Lord Jamar, and DJ Alamo as a fully formed and genuinely extraordinary force, a group of young men from New Rochelle, New York who arrived with the confidence, the craft, and the vision of artists far beyond their years.

The production draws deep from the golden era well, James Brown-sampled breakbeats, funky R&B loops, jazz textures, and soulful grooves creating a foundation that feels simultaneously rooted in hip-hop's past and completely alive in its present. Over that foundation, three of the most distinctive MC voices of their era trade verses with a chemistry and interplay that is a masterclass in how group dynamics can elevate individual talent. Grand Puba's smooth, conversational flow, Sadat X's unmistakable bray and unorthodox patterns, and Lord Jamar's focused, grounded delivery complement each other with the ease of artists who have found their perfect creative partnership.

The Five Percent Nation teachings that run through the album's lyrics give it a philosophical depth and cultural specificity that sets it clearly apart from its contemporaries. As Trouser Press writer Jeff Chang described it, the album is a marriage of party groove and polemical grit that stands as a high point of East Coast hip-hop. The Source called it an album that overflows with creativity, originality, and straight-up talent, capturing a whole world of music, rhymes, and vibes with a completely new style. "Slow Down," sampling Edie Brickell, reached number three on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart. "All For One" peaked at number thirteen. The album has sold approximately 350,000 copies and has never been out of print.

This 30th anniversary edition is pressed on neon purple and green double vinyl and includes a bonus neon orange 7" single, one of the most striking physical packages a landmark record has ever received.
