Blue Mitchell - Out Of The Blue (LP / 180g Mono)
Originally released in 1959 on Riverside, Out of the Blue was trumpeter Blue Mitchell's second album as a leader, recorded during his prime years with the Horace Silver Quintet.
Mitchell leads an all-star lineup of Benny Golson on tenor saxophone, Wynton Kelly on piano, Art Blakey on drums and Sam Jones on bass. The result is warm, swinging late-'50s hard bop with Mitchell's bright, lyrical tone front and center.
This limited edition features the original mono mix with lacquers cut from the original tapes (AAA) by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound, pressed on 180-gram black vinyl at Fidelity Record Pressing and housed in a tip-on jacket for RSD Black Friday.
