Sabrina Teitelbaum's first two Blondshell records were about bad men and worse decisions, and she was very good at them. Violins, her third, puts that down and picks up something harder to write: how you balance the world's violence against its beauty without pretending either one cancels the other.
Across eleven tracks she works through troubled friendships, religion, the body, and the long unglamorous grind of actually healing. The frame of reference has widened with the subject matter, pulling in Gang of Four's angularity, Teenage Fanclub and The Go-Betweens for the melodic sense, and Sade for the restraint, with lyrical nods to Leonard Cohen and Pavement along the way. Musically it is bigger than anything she has done, built on swelling guitars and lead lines that go straight for the throat.
"Heart Has To Work So Hard" is an anthemic portrait of a friendship curdling in real time, and "Lucky" is a sunny insomniac daydream that never quite resolves. Following her acclaimed 2023 debut and 2025's If You Asked For A Picture, this is the record where she stops being a promising songwriter and becomes an important one.
This indie exclusive pressing is on clear vinyl, out September 25, 2026 through Partisan Records. Limited to independent retail.
