Originally released in 1995, Tri Repetae is Autechre’s third album and one of their most influential works — now finally back on vinyl after being out of print since 2001.
The record stands as a bold, boundary-pushing statement, taking the duo’s roots in hip-hop and techno and filtering them through industrial abrasion, glitch-driven experimentation, and the rhythmic intensity of mid-90s jungle. Across ten tracks, Rob Brown and Sean Booth craft variations on “street sounds” that feel both futuristic and physical, making Tri Repetae one of Autechre’s most floor-focused releases, yet still utterly alien in its design.
Tracks like Overand recall the glacial atmospheres of Amber, while Leterel nods to the acid-drenched edges of Incunabula. Yet the album as a whole feels like a leap forward — drawing inspiration from avant-garde pioneers such as Iannis Xenakis and Edgard Varèse while colliding with the energy of post-hardcore and industrial. The result is an album that bridges Autechre’s early analog escapism with the fractured deconstructions that would define their later work.
Widely considered a perfect entry point for newcomers and a touchstone for longtime fans, Tri Repetae remains one of the most singular electronic albums ever created.
This reissue also includes a download of an original Autechre live set, previously only available in the Autechre webstore, with artwork by longtime collaborators The Designers Republic.
