Altered Images - Happy Birthday

Released in September 1981, Altered Images’ debut album introduced the band’s most successful single, “Happy Birthday,” which soared to number two on the charts. The hit single was produced by the renowned Martin Rushent, known for his work with The Human League, The Stranglers, and Buzzcocks. The remainder of the album was produced by Steven Severin, co-founder of the influential post-punk band Siouxsie and The Banshees. This compelling collection of songs earned a Silver Disc certification, with sales exceeding 60,000 copies.

This special half-speed mastered edition faithfully preserves the original artwork, featuring the iconic sleeve design and an obi strip. The album is pressed on 180-gram heavyweight black vinyl and housed within a poly-lined inner sleeve to protect the record. Included is a detailed four-page insert containing all the lyrics and credits.

The new edition has been expertly mastered by Barry Grint at AIR Mastering, using the original stereo tapes and employing the precision technique of half-speed mastering. This vinyl cutting process enhances groove accuracy and transient detail, resulting in an exceptionally detailed stereo image and a natural, vibrant high-frequency response that brings the music to life with remarkable clarity.
