Tears For Fears - The Tipping Point

Nearly two decades in the making, and worth every moment of the wait. The road to the album was not a smooth one. As Roland Orzabal puts it, "before everything went so right with this album, everything first had to go wrong." Years of false starts, personal upheaval, and the kind of creative friction that only comes from a partnership as deep and complex as the one between Orzabal and Curt Smith eventually gave way to something remarkable. "Something happens when we put our heads together," Orzabal reflects. "We've got this balance, this push-me-pull-you thing — and it works really well." Smith agrees: "A Tears For Fears record is the stuff we can both agree on. If that balance doesn't work, the whole thing just doesn't work."

Joined by longtime collaborator Charlton Pettus and producers Sacha Skarbek and Florian Reutter, the duo have crafted a record that sounds bold and beautiful and unmistakably, completely themselves. Forty years on, the bond between Orzabal and Smith has become something beyond friendship, beyond partnership. As Smith describes it, it is familial, brotherly, the kind of connection that can fall apart and separate but always, inevitably, finds its way back together. The Tipping Point is the sound of that reunion, and it is everything their most devoted fans could have hoped for.
