Recorded on the night of November 27, 1987, The Trinity Session is a testament to the power of "atmosphere over artifice." Utilizing the natural, haunting acoustics of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Toronto, the Cowboy Junkies captured this multi-platinum album in a single night using just one Calrec Ambisonic microphone and a DAT recorder. The result is a "spare, evocative" blend of original songwriting and reimagined classics that sounds as if the band is playing in your living room—or your local cathedral.
This premium Music On Vinyl (MOV) reissue expands the original 10-track vinyl experience into a Double LP set. By spreading the sessions across four sides, the pressing preserves the "ambient air and vast depth" of the church's unique sonic fingerprint. Crucially, this edition restores two tracks that were omitted from the original 1988 vinyl release: the ethereal "Blue Moon Revisited (Song for Elvis)" and the traditional gospel-folk of "Working On A Building."
