Seven years after her last full-length release, Lily Allen returns with West End Girl, her fifth studio album and arguably her most "vulnerable, exposed, and forensic" work to date. Written and recorded during an intense, emotionally charged 10-day stretch in Los Angeles in December 2024—and later finished in New York and London—the record captures a "breathless immediacy." Produced alongside Blue May, Seb Chew, and Kito, the album serves as an unflinching narrative of reinvention following her move to New York and the public breakdown of her marriage to actor David Harbour.

Musically, Allen balances her signature "infectious pop craftsmanship" with a new, sleek, and often "chilly" alt-pop aesthetic. The record moves from the optimistic yet ultimately devastating title track to the "brutally funny pop autopsy" of "Relapse" and the self-referential finale "Fruityloop." Described by Allen as "autofiction," the album blends raw facts with artistic license, creating a 14-track journey that documents betrayal, dislocation, and the rediscovery of dignity. Since its initial digital arrival in late 2025, West End Girl has been hailed as a masterpiece of "pop realism," earning Allen three BRIT Award nominations including Album of the Year.

This 2026 physical release marks the first time the album is available on vinyl. Housed in a gatefold jacket featuring original cover art and illustrations by Spanish artist Nieves González, the LP includes a printed insert with lyrics and credits. Pressed on 180-gram Opaque Black vinyl (with a limited Crystal Clear variant), this edition preserves the album’s sharp edges and unblinking intimacy, making it the definitive way to experience the most empathetic chapter of Allen’s career.
