Iso-Erotic Calibration marks the long-awaited vinyl return of The Anti Group Communications (T.A.G.C.), the psycho-acoustic research project helmed by Adi Newton, also known for his pioneering work with Clock DVA. Originally released in 1994 and now reissued by Cold Spring Records on rich brown vinyl, this edition resurrects one of Newton’s most elusive and conceptually daring works—an album that blurs the lines between sound experiment, sensual ritual, and metaphysical inquiry.
Recorded over the course of three years, Iso-Erotic Calibration stands as one of T.A.G.C.’s most refined statements: a meticulously assembled suite of sonic investigations into human sexuality, perception, and the physiological effects of sound. The album takes shape not as a collection of songs but as a carefully constructed system—a laboratory of tone, pulse, and breath where electronics become both the subject and the instrument of desire. Newton approaches sound here as a biological medium, manipulating frequencies and resonances to evoke responses somewhere between erotic arousal and hypnotic trance.
While deeply rooted in avant-garde traditions, this release is often regarded as one of T.A.G.C.’s most “accessible” works, weaving rhythmic electronics and textural ambience into a sensuous, cinematic flow. Beneath its polished surfaces, though, lies the same rigor and conceptual depth that defines all of Newton’s output. Each track functions as an aural experiment, mapping the intersection of mind, body, and machine, and exploring how sound itself can act as a form of calibration—a tuning of the erotic and the cognitive.
The Cold Spring reissue expands the original material with four additional pieces: two drawn from digital-only editions released in 2013, one excerpted from the 2011 T.A.G.C. film Given, and a new remix of the title track that reframes its sensual pulse in deeper abstraction. As always with T.A.G.C., the visual and textual presentation forms an integral part of the work. The album’s artwork, filled with cryptic diagrams and annotations, functions as a research dossier, illuminating the theoretical scaffolding behind the music’s sonic architecture.
Iso-Erotic Calibration is more than an album—it is an investigation into sound as experience, and experience as data. Adi Newton’s vision remains uncompromising and future-focused, situated at the crossroads of industrial, ambient, and psychoacoustic art.
Presented on brown vinyl, this edition offers the first official vinyl release of the album and an expanded CD counterpart, reaffirming T.A.G.C.’s place among the most visionary and intellectually driven projects to emerge from the post-industrial avant-garde.
For listeners of: Clock DVA, Coil, Psychic TV, Chris & Cosey, Lustmord, and Nurse With Wound.
