Originally released in 1993, Liberator is OMD’s ninth studio album and a bold step into the club-oriented sounds of the early 90s. Following the massive success of Sugar Tax, Andy McCluskey leaned further into techno and house influences to create a record that is "hook-mad and relentlessly catchy." It features the Top 20 hit "Stand Above Me" and the Barry White-sampling "Dream of Me (Based on Love's Theme)," showcasing a period where OMD successfully navigated the transition from 80s synth-pop pioneers to 90s dance-floor mainstays.
This 180-gram black vinyl reissue is a true collector’s upgrade, having been remastered from the original 1/2" analog tapes at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. Like its successor Universal, this album hasn’t been available on vinyl since its initial 1993 release, making this "long-overdue" pressing the definitive way to hear McCluskey's high-energy production. With its "crystalline highs" and "driving low-end," this remaster restores the power of a record that was designed to be played loud.
