Muse - The Resistance

Muse’s ambitious fifth studio album. Released in 2009, the record marked a bold leap forward, showcasing the trio’s flair for combining rock bombast with classical influences, electronics, and sweeping cinematic arrangements. The album debuted at No. 1 in 19 countries, including the UK, and solidified Muse’s reputation as one of the biggest bands in the world.

The Resistance is a concept-driven work, loosely inspired by George Orwell’s 1984, and it reflects on themes of power, rebellion, and personal freedom. The record is packed with some of Muse’s most iconic tracks: the anthemic single “Uprising,” a rallying cry that became a global hit; the Queen-inspired “United States of Eurasia,” blending piano theatrics with operatic grandeur; and the stadium-filling “Resistance.”

The album also features the tender ballad “Undisclosed Desires,” the brooding “MK Ultra,” and its crowning centerpiece, Exogenesis: Symphony—a three-part, 15-minute orchestral suite written by frontman Matt Bellamy, performed with a full orchestra, and hailed as one of Muse’s most daring creative statements.

Critically and commercially successful, The Resistance earned Muse their first GRAMMY Award for Best Rock Album in 2011. This 180-gram heavyweight vinyl pressing presents the album’s epic scope and sonic detail with richness and clarity, making it an essential piece for fans and collectors alike.
