Hanging Freud - Worship

Glasgow-based duo Hanging Freud (Paula Borges and Jonathan Skinner) deliver their 7th studio album, Worship, a deeply emotive masterwork released via the Belgian label Spleen+ (a division of Alfa Matrix). Written and recorded under the extreme isolation of pandemic lockdowns in a temporary, mouse-infested apartment in Scotland, the album is a 100% digital "less is more" production. The result is a freezing, genre-defying soundscape that navigates the symbolic contrasts of life, death, and "fearful resilience."

Blending elements of post-punk, cold wave, and ethereal synthgaze, Worship creates a dense, cinematic cocoon. Borges’ vocals are famously "klagend" (plaintive)—full of fragile grace and dark simplicity.
