David Bowie - Never Let Me Down

A new production of the 1987 album
The seeds of this reimagined version were planted in 2008, when David Bowie asked producer Mario McNulty to remix the track “Time Will Crawl” and to record new drums with longtime Bowie drummer Sterling Campbell, along with a new string arrangement. The result, released on the iSelect compilation, received widespread acclaim. In the liner notes, Bowie reflected: “Oh, to redo the rest of that album.”

Fast forward to early 2018, McNulty entered Electric Lady Studios in New York with a lineup of musicians who had deep ties to Bowie: Sterling Campbell on drums, ★ (Blackstar) bassist Tim Lefebvre, and guitarists Reeves Gabrels and David Torn. Together, they brought fresh life to the material, making the songs sound entirely new. The string arrangements were handled by Nico Muhly, whom McNulty first met in 2001 when they were both interns for Philip Glass.
