The Bela Session captures the genesis of Bauhaus—five tracks born from the band’s very first studio recording on January 26, 1979. Anchoring this rare release is the original, unedited version of Bela Lugosi’s Dead, the nine-minute gothic cornerstone that launched a genre and became an enduring cult anthem.

Also included is Harry, a surreal B-side that originally surfaced in 1982, alongside three tracks previously lost to time: the swaggering Some Faces, the proto-goth bite of Bite My Hip, and the raw, skeletal Boys (Original Version).

Issued nearly four decades later in 2018, The Bela Session is more than a retrospective—it's a séance. These recordings offer a rare glimpse into the shadows where Bauhaus began to take shape, already hinting at the sonic mystique that would come to define them.
