Impressed is proud to present Nick Mulvey – Dark Harvest Part 1 in partnership with Supernatural Records.

British-born Nick Mulvey studied music and art in Havana, Cuba, before pursuing ethnomusicology at the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies.

His latest record, Dark Harvest, is divided into two parts. These albums mark a significant phase in his artistic journey, reflecting personal challenges and spiritual growth.

Dark Harvest Part 1 explores themes of descent and grief, capturing the emotional struggles Mulvey has faced in recent years. He describes this period as “brutal,” yet transformative—leading to a deeper understanding of himself and his faith. Mulvey recalls that during his lowest moments, a friend told him, “There will be a ‘dark harvest’ to all of this, Nick. There will be treasure from these struggles.” That insight became a guiding light throughout his creative process.

Mulvey was a founding member of the jazz-influenced band Portico Quartet, known for its innovative use of the Hang, a Swiss percussion instrument. The band’s debut album, Knee-Deep in the North Sea, was nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2008. In 2011, Mulvey left the group to embark on a solo career, releasing his debut EP, The Trellis, in 2012, followed by Fever to the Form in 2013. His first solo album, First Mind, was released in 2014 and also received a Mercury Prize nomination.
