It came out on 4AD in February 2012 and became the record that defined what bedroom pop could sound like when the bedroom was the point.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\"Oblivion\" is the one everyone knows, an unsettling piece of writing about an assault set to the most inviting synth line of the decade, and it has since been called one of the best songs not just of that year but of the entire decade. \"Genesis\" and \"Be A Body\" run the same trick from other angles, Boucher's voice pitched up and stacked until it stops reading as human, riding beats that owe as much to R\u0026amp;B and Cocteau Twins as to any dance record. \"Nightmusic\" brings in Majical Cloudz. \"Skin\" turns fully inward and closes the door.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eIt debuted at 98 on the Billboard 200 and 8 on the dance and electronic chart, which undersells things considerably. It won a Juno, made the Polaris shortlist, topped year-end lists across the board, and did more than any other record to pull the Mile End DIY scene in Montreal onto an international stage.
