Re-mastered for vinyl, this 22-track compilation spans the years 1995 to 2004, featuring key selections from all of The Brian Jonestown Massacre's albums, as well as live recordings and many previously unreleased tracks.
The band has been essential in the development of the modern U.S. garage rock scene. Many musicians from Los Angeles and San Francisco got their start playing with Anton Newcombe, including Peter Hayes of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
Originally, Newcombe was heavily influenced by The Rolling Stones’ psychedelic phase—the band’s name itself is a fusion of Stones guitarist Brian Jones and cult leader Jim Jones. However, his work in the 2000s expanded into new aesthetic dimensions, drawing from the UK shoegaze movement of the 1990s and incorporating diverse influences from world music, particularly Middle Eastern and Brazilian traditions.
